Hyatt's portfolio of open hotels in Canada has quadrupled since 2017, with a record 10 hotel openings expected in 2027

CHICAGO (October 28, 2026) — Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) today announced record growth momentum in Canada, where Hyatt’s portfolio of open hotels has quadrupled in under a decade. With more than 40 deals in the pipeline, including 10 hotels expected to open in 2027, Hyatt is on track for its largest year of hotel openings in the country.

“Our growth reflects the strength of our relationships with owners and developers, the breadth of our brands and the flexibility of our development models,” said Julienne Smith, Head of Americas Growth, Hyatt. “Canada remains an important market with significant opportunity to expand our brand presence.”

“As we look toward a record year of openings in 2027, our focus remains on deepening relationships with owners and creating opportunities to grow together,” said Scott Richer, Head of Growth, Canada, Hyatt. “At Hyatt, business is personal. It’s about understanding our owners’ goals, earning their trust and creating lasting value for them and our guests.”

Recent Openings Strengthen Hyatt's Canadian Portfolio

Hyatt's recent openings demonstrate its ability to grow its brands across different market types and travel needs while providing owners with access to its portfolio of brands and global commercial platform.

Recent additions include:

• The Clayfield, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
• Hyatt Place Vancouver / Metrotown, Burnaby, BC
• Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls Fallsview, Niagara Falls, ON
• Hyatt House Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay, ON

Hyatt’s Canadian Pipeline Adds New Brands, Destinations and Ways to Stay

Park Hyatt Vancouver will mark a significant expansion of Hyatt's Luxury portfolio in Canada. The anticipated opening will establish a Park Hyatt presence on the West Coast, complementing the iconic Park Hyatt Toronto in the east. Together, the two properties will anchor the brand in two of Canada's most important gateway cities, further strengthening Hyatt's luxury portfolio in the country.

Hyatt is also preparing for the debut of the Unscripted by Hyatt collection in Canada through a collaboration with Haida Enterprise Corporation, the economic development arm of the Haida Nation. Offering independent hotels a flexible path into Hyatt's global network while preserving their distinct identities, the Unscripted by Hyatt brand will welcome two Canadian properties: Haida House at Tllaal (Tlell) and Ocean House at Tlaga Gawtlaas (Old Massett), both located on Graham Island in Xaadáa Gwáay│Xaada Gwaay.yaay (Haida Gwaii), British Columbia.

“Haida House and Ocean House are distinctly Haida Gwaii, and that will remain at the heart of who we are,” said Leticia Hill, CEO, Haida Enterprise Corporation. “This collaboration with the Unscripted by Hyatt brand gives us an opportunity to share these special places with a broader audience while maintaining our Haida ownership, identity and connection to Haida Gwaii.”

In addition, Hyatt’s brand expansion in Canada includes the introduction of two upper-midscale brands: Hyatt Select, designed for hotel conversions, and Hyatt Studios, focused on extended-stay travelers.

Hyatt Select Kingston is expected to open later this year in Ontario, marking the brand’s Canadian debut. In 2027, Hyatt Select Prince Albert and Hyatt Studios Prince Albert are expected to open as a dual-branded development in Saskatchewan, introducing the Hyatt Studios brand to Canada.

Designed for secondary and tertiary markets, the Hyatt Select brand offers owners a flexible conversion pathway while providing guests with modern design, thoughtful comfort and a reliable stay. Hyatt Studios hotels are purpose-built for extended stays, offering apartment-style suites with kitchens and practical amenities designed to help guests feel at home during longer visits. Both brands connect owners to Hyatt’s commercial capabilities and World of Hyatt loyalty program.

As Hyatt continues to grow its brands in Canada, Hyatt remains focused on working with owners to bring the right hotels to the right markets, while offering guests and World of Hyatt members more places to stay across the country. The term “Hyatt” is used in this release for convenience to refer to Hyatt Hotels Corporation and/or one or more of its affiliates.

Phoenix, Ariz. (October 27, 2026) – Leading global hospitality enterprise BWH Hotels today announced a comprehensive transformation, bringing more than 4,000 hotels and 18 brands under a single loyalty program and global masterbrand, WorldHotels. The move is designed to strengthen portfolio awareness, create greater clarity for travelers and hotel owners and accelerate growth through a unified platform and enhanced digital capabilities, while delivering a guest experience that’s powered by local expertise.

Grounded in rigorous consumer research and guest feedback, this strategic evolution reflects how today’s travelers discover, evaluate and book hotels, while preserving the local character of each independent property.

"We have a hotel for virtually every travel occasion, but many travelers only know a portion of our portfolio," said Larry Cuculic, President and Chief Executive Officer, WorldHotels. "WorldHotels gives us a clearer way to tell our story. By connecting our brands, loyalty program and digital capabilities under one masterbrand, we're making it easier for travelers to understand who we are today, while enabling our hoteliers to better compete on a global scale and preserving the independence and individuality of our 4,000 hotels."

Though the company's portfolio has expanded across luxury, boutique, upscale, extended-stay and economy segments, research indicates many travelers are aware of only part of its offerings. The move to WorldHotels is intended to create greater clarity and awareness, while preserving the distinct identities of its brands and properties. Unifying under WorldHotels bridges this gap, giving guests a seamless way to navigate its full spectrum of hospitality options.

Local Expertise at Global Scale
Unlike many large hospitality companies built around standardized experiences, WorldHotels is building its platform around local expertise. The transformation is designed to scale the knowledge of thousands of independent hoteliers throughout the global network—surfacing neighborhood insights from on-the-ground hotel teams and making those local experiences easier for travelers to discover across the portfolio.

While individual property identities, signage and iconic flags will remain unchanged, the WorldHotels platform will expand cross-portfolio discovery, strengthen direct relationships with guests and increase visibility for hotel owners worldwide.

By combining local expertise with the scale of a global hospitality company, WorldHotels will offer travelers both the confidence of a trusted network and the authenticity of destination-driven experiences.

WorldHotels Rewards: A Unified Loyalty Program for 70 Million Members
Central to the transformation is WorldHotels Rewards, a new, unified loyalty program that consolidates Best Western Rewards® and WorldHotels Rewards with approximately 70 million existing members combined. Simple, transparent and rewarding, the new program introduces three streamlined membership tiers, while protecting all current benefits such as status matching, member rates and points that never expire. Members will retain their existing points value and enjoy additional opportunities to earn points, while gaining access to a more connected global portfolio and simplified rewards experience.

Additional details about the new loyalty program will be announced on Nov. 16, 2026.

"WorldHotels Rewards was designed with our guests at the heart of every decision. Through extensive consumer research and member feedback, we learned travelers want a loyalty program that feels intuitive and transparent, that recognizes them wherever they travel," said Joelle Park, Chief Marketing Officer, WorldHotels. “By bringing our loyalty program together under WorldHotels Rewards, we're making it easier for guests to discover the full breadth of our portfolio, find the right hotel for every journey and feel welcomed wherever they stay.”

Enhanced Digital Platform Designed to Scale Local Hospitality
To power this new rewards program and modernize guest engagement, WorldHotels has invested heavily in its digital infrastructure, launching a new website and redesigned mobile app. At the heart of the experience is a proprietary discovery platform built from more than 10,000 hours of insights gathered from hotel teams around the world.

These insights will help travelers discover hotels, neighborhoods and experiences across the portfolio, alongside a user experience that makes it easy to manage booking and loyalty activity. By connecting local expertise, loyalty and digital discovery on a single platform, WorldHotels is helping travelers explore more of its portfolio while increasing visibility and direct-booking opportunities for hotel owners.

WorldHotels Collection™: Independent, Character-Rich Hotels
As part of this transformation, the portfolio's upscale and luxury hotels will now be unified under WorldHotels Collection, a global platform for independent properties that preserves the individuality that increasingly drives traveler choice. WorldHotels Collection comprises six categories: WorldHotels Luxury, WorldHotels Elite, WorldHotels Distinctive, WorldHotels Crafted, WorldHotels Backdrop™ and WorldHotels Residences™.

"The future of luxury hospitality isn't about standardization. It's about helping exceptional independent properties compete and grow on a global stage, while remaining true to their identity," said Ron Pohl, President, WorldHotels Collection. "WorldHotels Collection sits at the intersection of independence and scale, giving owners access to the commercial power, technology and demand drivers of a major hospitality network while maintaining the tailored, local experiences today's travelers are seeking."

WorldHotels Collection is expanding in some of the hospitality industry's fastest-growing categories: WorldHotels Residences combines private homeownership with luxury hospitality services and brand affiliation, while WorldHotels Backdrop connects travelers with distinctive destinations where immersive natural settings and elevated accommodations converge. Together, these platforms broaden growth opportunities for developers, owners and independent operators seeking access to global distribution and brand recognition.

OTTAWA, ON, September 28, 2026 — Today at its national Labour Market Forum, Tourism HR Canada launched Daisy, an AI-powered platform designed to help the sector better understand the skills needed in tourism, manage talent development, and support a strong workforce.

The announcement follows World Tourism Day 2026, dovetailing its theme of Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism. Daisy is a prime example of how AI can enhance the tourism sector by strengthening skills and elevating workforce management practices.

Funded by Economic and Social Development Canada, Daisy brings over 450 industry-vetted competencies together with practical workforce tools in one easy-to-navigate digital environment. The platform helps users understand the competencies required for different tourism roles, compare occupations, identify skills gaps, pinpoint training, and map career progression.

“Daisy represents an important step forward in how we understand and develop Canada's workforce,” said Philip Mondor, President and CEO of Tourism HR Canada. “By bringing a robust collection of competencies and artificial intelligence together, we can make workforce information more accessible and actionable for the people and organizations that need it. We’re excited to build on this foundation and explore how Daisy can further support workforce development.”

Daisy houses the tourism competency framework and related National Occupational Standards, and offers a range of tools: Customized Occupational Profiles, Job Description Generator, Job Comparison, and Skills Checklist. Together, they provide a shared competency language that can be used by employers, HR professionals, educators, career counsellors, job seekers, and policy makers.

For employers and HR professionals, Daisy can support job design, competency mapping, workforce planning, recruitment, and employee development. Educators can use competency and occupational information to help align learning with industry expectations, while career professionals and job seekers can explore occupations, assess competencies, and identify areas for development.

“Workforce development is strongest when industry, education, employment services, and individuals can work from a common understanding of what people need to succeed,” noted Jon Kiely, Tourism HR Canada Vice-President, Products and Programs. “Daisy creates a foundation for that shared understanding and opens new possibilities for connecting people with meaningful career pathways and helping organizations develop the workforce they need.”

The launch of Daisy also marks the beginning of a broader vision for a connected workforce intelligence ecosystem. Future development is expected to expand Daisy’s capabilities in areas such as workforce intelligence, verified skills, career mobility, education alignment, recruitment, talent development and international competency recognition. Partnerships will be an important part of supporting product development, system integration, sector adaptation, research and scale.

“Daisy is built on the idea that workforce information should not exist in disconnected systems,” added Philip Mondor. “When we connect competencies, learning, talent management, and workforce needs, we create new opportunities to make better-informed decisions—from an individual planning their next career step to a policy maker developing workforce strategies.”

Daisy’s initial foundation draws on Tourism HR Canada’s significant experience developing national occupational standards, competency frameworks, and labour market intelligence for Canada’s tourism workforce, as well as other industries and regions. The platform provides an opportunity to apply that expertise in new ways while exploring its potential for broader sectoral and further international applications.
